Declared Turtle Trade From the United States
Return to US Export Index Page
Total Exports - The numbers taken as a whole do not offer the detail or insight into the trade that is made possible by breaking it down into time period allotments. In this section we will offer the data broken down into yearly totals as well as monthly totals.
Yearly Totals - On this page the numbers for all species exported in each year are presented with the number of wild caught and wild caught percentage calculated. The totals will be presented for the entire time period for which we have data, from November 04, 2002 thru November 26, 2005.
Please note: Numbers are recorded by hand (keystroke) into the system resulting in a data lag. For this reason the 2005 data should be viewed as possibly incomplete.

1 - The reason the species from these three genera were removed from the totals in this table is to give a more accurate indication of the trade in species that are not bred or shipped in massive numbers. i.e. - For example while 5,000 Kinosternon is a large number, the significance of this is lost when included in with species that are produced in the millions.
Apalone, Pseudemys and Trachemys data - all other species removed1 - for a more accurate indication of the mass produced species trends

1 - The reason the species from all other genera were removed from the totals in this table is to give a more accurate indication of the overall trends in mass produced species.
Monthly Totals - On this page the total exports are presented broken down by month for the entire time period that data is available presented in raw form and as monthly averages. Annotation will be added to this table where it is deemed helpful

Species will be listed alphabetically
If possible links will be provided to pertinent information about the species on this site. Supplying care information should not be construed as support for this trade.
If there is a conservation status for this species it will be noted
The numbers of live animals exported between November 02, 2002 and November 26, 2005 will be supplied for each species, detailing the total numbers of animals as well as the number and the percentage of the total for each year which were wild caught.
