Melogale moschata - Ferret badger
Ferret Badgers, along with Palm Civets, have been implicated in SARS. Click here to go to our page expanding on this development.
Ferret badgers primarily inhabit tropical and sub-tropical forests and wooded hillsides but also inhabit grasslands and cultivated areas such as rice fields. The Chinese Ferret badger is known to occur in close proximity to humans which undoubtedly helps account for its presence in the markets.
