Extinct in our Time Gallery

The following species are thought to have become extinct since the beginning of the Twentieth century.  It is stridently hoped that this gallery will not grow in size in the coming years.

Cuora yunnanensis - Yunnan Box Turtle:  Red data book of China (1998): "maybe already extinct" IUCN (1996): "data deficient" The type locality for the Yunnan Box Turtle was the Mountains of Southwest China. No confirmed live specimens have been seen for several decades.
