The species in and around the pond varied widely but those that were visualized included Hieremys annandalei (Yellow headed temple turtle), Cuora amboinensis (Malayan box turtle), Heosemys grandis (Giant Asian pond turtle), Manouria emys (Burmese mountain tortoise), Trachemys scripta elegans (red-eared slider), and several massive Orlitia borneoensis (Malayan river turtle).  In addition, the murky water and hundreds upon hundreds of turtle heads sticking out of it might have held a number of surprises in terms of the species that lived there.
