It appears Reeve's are being captive bred in fair numbers in China. Perhaps the oddest thing seen with this species was a dead juvenile specimen encased in a plastic block and being sold as a paperweight by a street vendor outside a temple in Beijing.
The Reeves turtle below was found in the same enclosure as a number of other "aquatic" species including an elongated tortoise and a Flowerback box turtle in the pet market in Chengdu. This melanistic specimen would command a higher price than a typical Reeves specimen.
