Chinese softshells are available by the hundreds in Chengdu and Guangzhou as well as in restaurants throughout China (they are primarily kept in aquaria at the entrance to the restaurant). Large numbers of these are thought to be captive bred now.Both pictures below were taken in the food market area of Chengdu.
